On this page you will find various links to other websites. I have given a brief description of the sites concerned, & these are basically websites which I find useful or interesting - mainly from my 'favourites' selection.
NB. - Jim's Links Tip - read the description about the site first, & if you wish to visit the site then click on the link button - this will take you direct to the website. These are all websites run by others, so if the link doesn't work it may mean the website is temporarily unavailable.
Broadcast Radio Links
Angel Radio Based in Havant & probably the best example of why we should have community radio stations. Run by an extremely dedicated team of people & providing a service for older people. You can also listen to Angel Radio online if you visit their website.
The 1920's Radio Network Broadcasting from Virginia USA & available worldwide on the internet, this station plays big band & nostalgia music, with specialist programmes each week. 24 hour per day programming with a good selection of old time music.
The Offshore Radio Guide A marvellous guide to all things connected with offshore radio, including information on every ship-based radio station past & present, up to date news & press releases, & a wide ranging photo collection. Also a good links page for many other offshore radio sites.
Radio Caroline The first UK offshore station, the most original, & possibly the best. Still transmitting today ! You can listen via the internet or through your sky satellite system on channel 0199 (still sounding fine...). Occasionally programmes are broadcast from their current vessel 'Ross Revenge', anchored at Tilbury docks.
Reciva Internet Radio Perhaps one of the most interesting recent developments in radio listening, by purchasing a wifi / internet radio & using this website, you can listen to over 12,000 (yes twelve thousand +) radio stations from across the globe, from major broadcast stations to amateur internet radio stations. You can also listen to these stations on this website.
Brill Oldies A station broadcasting from 'the top of the hill' in Brill twice a year under an RSL licence. Playing music mainly from the 50's to the 70's & run by Paul & his dedicated team. Try listening via the website in August or December, their normal broadcast dates.
Offshore Music Radio The internet radio ship... A good internet radio service, sounding very much like the offshore stations of the 60's & 70's with a good quality audio stream & weekly updated programmes.
The British DX Club An excellent source of information on many aspects of the radio hobby. This club also produces a very good monthly magazine at a very reasonable subscription cost. An interesting read for the radio enthusiast with accurate details & news.
Amateur Radio Links
CARS - The Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society Our local radio club here in Chelmsford, Essex, UK. A fine collection of people ! The website gives a good record of all past events & is regularly updated. Find information here of current & future meetings & on air nets. The club also provides excellent & successful training courses locally.
QRZ.COM A site for radio hams worldwide, mainly used as a place for us to post information about ourselves including e-mail addresses & links to own websites. The link button on the left takes you to my page on QRZ.COM & any radio ham can register on this site.
Echolink VoIP technology - the echolink software allows amateur radio stations to communicate worldwide using the internet. This can be either direct from your pc or through rf 'links' or via repeaters with echolink capability. A very good extension to the amateur radio hobby.
G4NSJ Ray's website. Many amateurs have their own websites - this one I like because it gives good down to earth information. Some easy to build aerials here, & lots of other common sense details. Also a humorous attitude to the hobby - I like that...
The Southgate Amateur Radio Society One of the best society websites available - news, a good selection of ham radio articles, & useful information here.
P.A.D.A.R.S. - The Porthmadog & District Amateur Radio Society Another fine bunch of people ! If you live or are on holiday in Gwynedd, North Wales, then listen out for members of PADARS. They can often be found on GB3DW repeater on 145.6625 (tone activation).
Ham Info Bar A toolbar that can be downloaded for free & added to the top of your pc screen, giving quick access links to many radio related sites. I particularly like the radio player which can be customised & also has the RSGB news feeds.
The Snowdonia Radio Company 2W0SAK's company in Blaenau Ffestiniog Gwynedd. Currently providing antenna products & components. Simon also operates the 2W0SAK-L echolink system on 144.825 (CTCSS 110.9) which has excellent coverage over the area. Node no. 399435. Details on this website.
QsoNet More VoIP technology - commonly referred to as CQ100 (the name of the virtual transceiver). You either love this or are indifferent to it... I think it's a great add-on to the hobby. Very easy to download & try for free for 90 days. Give it a go. Talk to amateurs all over the world without worrying about the RF conditions failing ! QsoTV is also available.
Other Non-Specific Links
Moonfruit Site Maker The website through which this site is built. A massive choice of designs & surprisingly simple to use ( - well - I can do it...) You can start by building a free site & then expand at a fairly reasonable cost.
Felixstowe TV News An internet tv community news channel - every town should have one ! What a good idea.
Go Home Productions An interesting music site from dj Mark Vidler. Listen to songs in a different form - basically, these are mixes of new & old tracks. Well worth a listen.
Chelmsford Calling A new site (mid 2009). An interesting site (obviously I would say that..!) with a collection of download material & links to youtube videos.
